In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Herndon of Pittsylvania County being in a low state of health but sound mind and memory calling to mind the uncertainty of human life do make and ordain this my last will and testament as to such worldly estate it has pleased God to bless me with in this life. I give desire and dispose of in the following manner to wit. I give to Mary Witcher wife of William Witcher after my death my Negro girl Malinday, one feather bed & furniture till she becomes of age twenty one years should I die before she arrives to that age then my will and desire is that my Executors when she arrives at that age to see that she is freed. I give to Polly Witcher one large cherry chest after my death. My will and desire is that my Negroes to wit, Amanday a girl Tanday a boy Tassmus- girl Candice a girl Landy Lanksford a boy together with the residue of my other estate shall be sold and my just debts paid after the payment hereof my will and desire is that the balance left should be equally divided between Abel Hutson Drury Hutson Sarah Wheat & Elizabeth Razors children wife of George Razor all of which I give to them & their heirs forever. My desire is that my negro woman Mary should not be sold but have the liberty of going with the children & lastly ai do appoint & ordain John Witcher Senior & William Graves my executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand seal this 17th day of July 1818.

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 15 day of February 1819 this last will and testament of Sarah Herndon decd was presented in Court and proved by the oaths of three oaths of three of the subscribing witnesses thereto. Ordered that the same be recorded. And on the motion of John Witcher and William Graves the Executors named in said will who made oath thereto according to law and together with William Witcher Sen and Charles W. Bobbett their securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of ten thousand dollars conditioned according to law certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate of said will in due form.
