Know all men by these presents that I Anne McDaniel of the County of Pittsylvania being conscience that the Doctrine of Christ teacheth us to do unto others as we would they should do to us, and having a Negro Woman Slave in my possession named Carolina I do now by these presents set free and Emancipate the said Slave and her increase, and do for my self my Heirs resign and relinquish all my right and title to the said Slave Caroline and her increase. Signed with my seal and dated this 11th day of November 1790.

At a Court of quarter sessions held for Pittsylvania County the 21st day of March 1791 The withing Emancipation was proved by the Oaths of the witnesses as thereto to be the act and deed of the within named Anne McDaniel and the same was Ordered to be recorded by the Court.
