For divers good and sufficient reasons I do hereby emancipate & forever set free my slave woman named Mary Jane aged about 28 years. I do emancipate & forever set free my slave girl named Lucy Ann daughter of Mary Jane and aged about 12 years also Indianna the daughter of said Mary Jane aged about 7 years, also Missouri daughter of said Mary Jane aged about 4 years, also Gaston Otey son of said Mary Jane aged about 9 months- all said emancipated slaves are bright mulattoes- are my property & are hereby emancipated released from slavery & forever set free. Witnesseth my hand & seal this 13th day of October 1859- signed sealed & acknowledged in the presence of

Mary Jane- aged 28 bright mulatto, scar on right arm, black wavy hair, 5 feet 3 inches.
Lucy Ann- 12 years- scar on right leg- scar on chin- brown straight hair 5 feet 2 inches.
Indianna- bright colour [sic] almost white- 7 years no scar
Missouri- ditto ditto 4 ditto ditto
