1801 - Thompson to Robert - Amherst Co, VA

Virginia Amherst County to wit,

I, Waddy Thompson of the County aforesaid do hereby emancipate and set free my slave Robert which I have lately purchased from Samuel Hill of said County and do hereby quit all future claim to him. Given under my hand and Seal this 19^th day of May 1801.

At a Court continued and held for Amherst County the 16^th day of June 1801. This Deed of Emancipation was acknowledged in Court by Waddy Thompson and it being certified to the Court that the said Slave Robert is upward of forty five years of age ordered to be recorded
