Know all men by these presents, that we [illegible] Miller & Robert A Miller, Executors of Mordecai Miller
decd and Richard A. Clagett and William [Payr?] Executors of [Colin Auld?] decd for and in consideration of
the sum of Five dollars to us in hand paid of which we hereby acknowledge the receipt, do by these presents,
emancipate & set free Sarah Gibson and Joseph Gibson, children of Gustavus Gibson decd. Which said Sarah
& Joseph were purchased by said Mordecai Miller & [illegible] Auld from Mr. [Cartham?] Ramsey with the
[illegible] of permitting them or their [illegible] to [illegible] to said Miller & Auld the amount [illegible]
purchased many, which having been done, this deed of emancipation is made in compliance with the
understanding between said Miller & Auld & Gustavus Gibson, father of said Sarah & Joseph. Witness our
hands and seals this 26th of May 1843.

At a United States Circuit Court of the District of Columbia Continued and held for the County of Alexandria
the 9th day of June1843, This deed of emancipation from Wm. H. Miller and Robt. H. Miller Executors of
Mordecai Miller decd and Richard H. Clagett and William Page Executors of Colin Auld decd to Sarah
Gibson & Joseph Gibson was proved by the oaths of Warwick P. Miller and John T. Creighton to be the act
and deed of the said executors & ordered to be recorded.
