w all men by these presents and it is witnessed by this Indenture that I Francis T Brooke as attorney in fact
for John T Brooke Do by these presents Emancipate and set free from slavery and all further service a negroe
slave Called Hester for and During the Rest & remainder of her life. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and Seal this 27th day of May 1797

1797 This letter of Emancipation from Francis T. Brooke attorney in fact for John T Brooke to his Slave
Hester was acknowledged by the said Francis T Brooke and ordered to be recorded.

The above named Hester is a light black woman, about five feet Two or three Inches high, very lively black
eyes, aged [blank] years some small scars on her face
Registered at the Clerks Office of the said County as Witness my hand and Seal of Office this Second day of
January 1804
