To all whom these presents shall come greeting. Know that in the issuance of the last will in
testament of Dolly Durett deceased late of the county of Bedford in the state of Virginia of
whom I Robert C Mitchell of said county and the sole acting executor , the other executor named
in said will to wit Lodewick McDaniel having declined to qualify as such. I the said Robert C
Mitchell the acting executor aforesaid do hereby assent to the legacy of freedom bequeathed the
said last will and testament to the following persons of colour, late slaves of the said decedent,
but in virtue of the said last will and testament and of these presents are now entitled to their
freedom namely Henry Berry and Ann. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and
affixed my seal this 22nd day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

Of Dolly Durett Deceased.
In the clerks office of Bedford County court this 22nd day of August 1853 this deed of
emancipation from Robert C Mitchell executor of Dolly Durrett deceased to Henry, Berry and
Ann late slaves of the said decedent was produced in the said office acknowledged by the said
Mitchell and admitted to record.
