To all whom these presents shall come greeting, Know ye that in pursuance of the provisions of
the last will and testament of Alexander Irvine late of the court of Bedford in the Commonwealth
of Virginia deceased of whom I Frederick Annspaugh of said County am the sole acting executor
the other executors nominated in the said last will and testament, to wit, Roderick McDaniel Esq.
having never qualified as such: I the said Frederick Annspaugh, the acting executor aforesaid do
hereby assent to the legacy of freedom bequeathed in the said last will and testament to the
following persons of colour, late slaves of the said decedent but in virtue of the said last will and
testament and these presents are now entitled to their freedom namely: Reuben, Rhoda and for
her children to with William , Henry, James, Ambrose, Wiatt, and Mary. In testimony whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal the 9th day of July in the year of our Lord 1844 and of the
Commonwealth the 69th.

Bedford Clerks Office July 9th 1844. This deed of emancipation from Frederick Annspaugh
Exec. Of Alexander Irvine Deceased to Reuben and other persons of colour, was produced in
Office, acknowledged by said Frederick Annspaugh and admitted to record.
