Whereas, during a long and painful illness in the city of Philadelphia of nearly seven months in
the year 1835= 36, Isaac a slave was unceasingly kind and devoted in his attendance on me,
having hardly even left my room and bedside during the time: and whereas I attribute as did my
physicians, the most eminent in Philadelphia much of my renovated health to him and his
services, for which, I am inspired with a most lively feeling of gratitude. And whereas I regard
him a most worthy man, and his general character, without exception good and feel that his
services aforsaid cannot be adequately compensated by money - therefore this indenture
witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises, I have emancipated and set free and do
by these presents emancipate and set free the said Isaac sometimes called Isaac Harrison and I
hereby covenant that he shall enjoy perpetual freedom, free from the claims of slavery, of
myself, my heirs and also of all and every person claiming by through or under meWitness my hand and seal this 5th day of May 1836.

This deed of emancipation from Beverly R Scott to Isaac sometimes called Isaac Harrison was
produced in office proved by the oath of the subscribing witnesses thereto and admitted to
record.
