Know all men by these presents, that I William A. Talbot of the Town of Lynchburg for and in consideration
of the sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars to me in hand paid at, and before the sealing and delivery of these
presents, and for other good causes & considerations me thereunto moving, I have emancipated & set free, and
do hereby fully emancipate, discharge, and set free Lucy, a woman slave, aged about thirty five years, together
with her future increase. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of May 1845. Teste
Wm [William] A. Talbot (Seal)
At a Court of Hustings held for the Corporation of Lynchburg at the Court house thereof on the 5th day of
may 1845.
The foregoing deed of emancipation from Wm A Talbot to Lucy was acknowledged in open Court by said
Talbot and ordered to be recorded.
