Know all men by these presents, that I Martha Bowler, for and in consideration of the love and natural
affection I bear to a mulatto man Armistead Pride my husband, I this day do liberate and emancipate him,
hereby bestowing on him his full & perfect freedom & giving to him all the previleges incident to or
appertaining to a freeman and for the full performance of this act I hereby bind myself and warrant & defend
his freedom against the claims of myself my heirs executors administration and against the claims of all and
every persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof I have herewith set my hand and affixed my seal this 28th
day of November
1820.
