Know all men by these presents, that I Claibourne
Gladmon of the town of Lynchburg for and in
consideration of the affection for Lucinda,
Ann, Gustavus & Adaline, as well on account of their
faithful services, extraordinary meret [merit], & unusual good conduct,
I have this day granted them their freedom, and
by these presents do emancipate them, hereby confering [conferring] on
them their full & perfect freedom. Which grant of emancipation
I warrant unto them & their heirs forever, as well
against myself as every other person whatsoever. In testimony
whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 21st
day of May Eight hundred & nineteen.

Campbell County to wit.
This day Claiborne Gladmon came before us in our said County, & acknowledged the foregoing
deed of manumission & requested us to certify the said
deed & his acknowledgment to the Hustings Court of the Corporation
of Lynchburg to be there entered of record. Given under
our hands & seals this 21st day of May 1819.
