Know all men by these presents that I Austin
Williams of the Town of Lynchburg and
County of Campbell do hereby for and in
consideration of the sum of One hundred
Dollars but more especially for the faithfull [faithful]
services performed by my negroe woman
Charlotte I do liberate and emancipate
her the said Charlotte from all services that
I might have a right to claim from her
forever. And I the said Aurtin Williams do
hereby for myself my heirs executors and
administrators liberate and forever quit claim
to the said Negro Charlotte and give her as
full and equal libraty [liberty] as if the said Negroe
woman Charlotte never had been a slave
In Witness whereof I do hereby set my
hand and seal this 29th day of Sept 1817
