Whereas Turner Christian of the county of New Kent executor of William B Christian deceased
did on the 25th day of October in the year 1806 execute to the undersigned bill of sale for a
mulatto boy named Bob then belonging to the said estate of Wm. B Christian and whereas the
consideration money for the purchase of the said boy to wit eighty pounds was paid by Mourning
a a free woman of colour and mother of the said boy who now desires that the undersigned shall
execute a deed of emancipation in favour of the said Bob now in consideration of the premises.
We Sam’l J Harrison, William Norwell and William Edenfield do emancipate and give full
freedom and Liberty to the said boy Bob (son of Mourning) and do warrant the same against the
claims of either of us or our heirs and against the claim of all persons claiming under us or either
of us Given under our hands and seals this 4th day of March 1816
