Know all men by these presents that I William J Connor of the County of Isle of Wight and State
of Virginia desirous of doing to others as I would they should do unto me, do you hearby
emancipate the following slaves from and after the dates hereinafter mentioned to wit, Willis, a
boy from the first day of Jan’y 1815, Charlotte a girl on the first day of Jan’y 1823 and Jefferson
a boy from the first day of Jan’y 1825 here by warranting such freedom and emancipation
against the claim or claims of myself, my heirs, executors and administrators forever. In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of September 1814 and in the 39th
year of the Commonwealth.
