We John Lynch & Edward Lynch, administrator of John C Lynch ded [deceased], of the county of Campbell
Town of
Lynchburg and State of Virginia haveing [having] a Negro Man Slave Named Bob aged about thirty years
Fallen under
my care by descent from my son John C. Lynch who died intestate, and being fully Persuaded that Freedom
& liberty is the Natural Right of all Mankind, and that Know [no] law Morrel [moral] or divine hath given me
a right to
or property in the person of any of my Fellow Creatures
and Not withstanding the Inquiry done to me & mine by the sd. [said] Bob from his own Confeshon
[confession] and Evident Circumstances
for which he was Tryed [tried] and Acquitted by the Laws of his Country -- believing as I do, that no
Circumstances whatever
can or ever will change the principle Nor the Injunction
of Our lord & Saviour [Savior] Jesus Christ, in doing unto all Men as we would they should do unto us, in like
Circumstances
and leaving the event unto him who hath sd. that "Vengence [Vengeance] is mine and I will repay it; I
therefore for myself my heirs
&c [etc.] do hereby emancipate and relinquish unto the sd. Bob all my Right Title or claim or pretention
[pretension] of Claim whatsoever
as to his person, or to any property that he may hereafter acquire.
Wittness [Witness] our hands and Seals this 9th day of the 11th mo [month] 1810

Edward Lynch (Seal) - At a court of Hustings of quarterly sessions continued & held for the
Corporation of Lynchbg [Lynchburg] at the Court House on Friday the
9th day of November 1810.
The within Deed of Emancipation from John Lynch & Edward Lynch to negroe man slave named Bob
was acknowledged in Court by the said John Lynch & Edward Lynch parties thereto. & ordered to be recorded
