Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Miller
of the County of Campbell, and State of Virginia, for divers
causes, and considerations me thereto moving, do hereby
emancipate, and forever set free from all manner of
servitude, the following slaves, (my absolute property,)
namely; Frederick, a man about sixty years of
age. Viney, a woman, about fifty five years
of age, and Smith, a boy, about thirteen years
of age. In testimony whereof I have hereunto
set my Hand, and affixed my seal this 9th day
of June 1855. Samuel Miller (Seal)
State of Virginia,
City of Lynchburg to wit:
I John S Blair a notary
public in, and for the City of Lynchburg aforesaid,
duly appointed, and qualified, do certify, that
Samuel Miller, whose name is signed to the
writing above, having date on the 9th day of June
1855, has acknowledged the same before me
as his act, and did In testimony whereof I
have hereunto set my Hand, and
affixed my notarial Seal this 9th day of June 1855.

The foregoing Deed of Emancipation was presented, and on the Notarys
annexed Certificate of acknowledgement by the grantor, was admitted
