Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Miller of the County of Campbell and State of Virginia for and
in consideration of the good Demeanor, and fidelity with which my servant Martha has heretofore served me
and for divers other good causes me thereunto moving, do hereby set free and wholly emancipate from slavery
my said female slave Martha of a Mulatto Colour and aged about twenty five years, and do by these presents,
give, grant and bestow unto her the said Martha her heirs &c, full, free and unrestrained freedom and liberty
forever. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 3rd day of May 1845.
