Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Miller of the County of Campbell and State of
Virginia have released liberated and set free and by these presents do voluntarily release,
liberate, emancipate and entirely and forever set free my negro woman Slave Mary aged about
twenty three years. And her two children One a girl named Sarah six years and the other a boy
named Edward, about three years of age, with all the future increase of the said female slaves,
and I do hereby ratify and confirm this deed of emancipation of the slaves aforesaid and the
future increase of the said females and do hereby covenant and bind myself my heir V to warrant
the freedom of said slaves with the future increase as aforesaid against the existing claim or
claims of all persons whomsoever. In Testimony whereof I the said Samuel Miller have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 11th day of October in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.

The within deed was this day presented in court proved by the oath of David R. Edley, Maurice
H. Garland and Jno. Wills witnesses thereunto Subscribed and ordered to be Recorded
