In the name of God amen I Jesse Wood the County of Campbell and State of Virginia being in sound
mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all once to die I do my last will and revoking all
will heretofore made by me In the first my Executrix and Executor hereafter named will pay all just debts
or claims which at my Death may be owing by me I do make and ordain this to be my last will and
testament in order to prevent all strife and ____ that might arise amongst my relations after my death and
for purpose do appoint William Davis Jr and Peter Dudley both of Lynchburg John Peterson my
Executors and Jonathan Johnson Benjamin Schoolfield from Lynchburg I lend to my wife Nancy Wood
lands and plantations and negroes and the hole of my Estate real and personal during her life The negroes
not to be moved out of the County I order Tom and Patsy his wife to take Nancy’s children six in number
Walher Mary Ann Griffen Diana William Larrson and Phill and old Agg and raise as them your own and
make them keep alike your own and after they come of age I give them all their freedom Agg to work for
living my mag and Team I order to be helped up and managed by Tom and Wiat after my misses Death if
she survive me or mine if I survive her I give my negroes all their freedom Jon Patsey their children six in
number Wiat Catharine Pertina John White Albert and Phil Will Jack and Isaac Dick George Henry When
we are done my Executors will pay all my just debts and then should there be any debts brought against
my estate if there is known to me and Estate listed my Executors sell a part of my real Estate or hire out
the negroes which to them some make advantage as I owe nothing of account my Executors will convey
the negroes to Ohio or some free State where they can use my Estate is to pay for all charges and trouble
and if any left____to Tom my real estate if not sold start ____ sold on a credit to enable to fetch
something and___
Collected sent to Tom. Tom must have his bonds and notes sent to me paid at ten per cent per annum my
Executors must take my estate real and personal all my household and kitchen furniture tools of every and
description stok of every kind in his opinion convey in fee simple to purchase all my real estate and my
Executors as soon as in necessary sell it for cash and move them to Ohio State or some free state most
advantageous for them and after paying all necessary expenses and trouble They be at the balance pay to
Tom and his wife Patsey the negros to be free then forever let them that has wifes and children stay for go
which they please the hole if my negroes be free Tom Patsey his wife and six children Wiat Catahrine
Pertina John White Albert a Wats Ovelina Nancy children Walker Mary An. Grifen Dianer Willaim
Lawson and Phil Fioe Will Jack Isaac Henry Gorge Dick Henry Agg I give one dollar to my brother
Edmund Wood and his heirs forever I give one dollar To sister Patsey Elizabeth Rosser and her heirs
forever I give one dollar To Patsey Arrington and her heirs forever I give to my brother John Wood a debt
that I paid for him sixteen pound and nine pence to Pain and Harrison and others other debts he old Let

At a Court held for Campbell County September 11th 1830
The foregoing last will and testament of Jesse Wood Deceased was produced in court proved by the oaths
of Thomas D Evans Rees Evans and Elizabeth Garvin witnesses thereunto subscribed and on the motion
of Adler Arrington he is made defendant and the same is continued until the next term And at a Court
held for Campbell County the 18th day of October following the same was again produced in Court
argued by council and ordered to be recorded
