I John Brown of Campbell County from mature Deliberate Consideration and the Conviction of my own mind
being fully persuaded that freedom is the Natural Right of all mankind and that no law Moral or Divine will
justifie [justify] me in holding my Fellow Creature in Slavery and being desirous to fulfill the Injunction of
Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by doing to others as I would be done unto. do therefore Declare that
Having in possession one Negroe man Named Henry Malhardy do for my self my Heirs Executors
administrators Hereby Release unto the Said Henry Mahardy all my Right Title or Claim or pretention of
Claim whatsoever to him or any Estate he may acquire In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand &
affixed my Seal this fourth Day of November one Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty four
