I Charles Johnson of Campbell County from
mature deliberate Consideration being fully persuaded that freedom is the Natural right
of all mankind, and that No Law Moral or
divine, has given me a right to as property
in the Person of my fellow Creature do
therefore declare that having under my care
One Negro Boy named Jacob Lampitt
who was born ye first Day of the Sixth Month one thousand seven Hundred and
Seventy Six. I Do hereby Emancipate &
set free the Said Jacob Lampitt for him
to enjoy his freedom in as full and Ample
a Manner as if he was Born of free
parents, without any interruption from
me or any Person claiming for by from
or under me either to his Peace or
to any Estate he may acquire after he
shall attain to the age of twenty One
Years. In witness Whereof I have hereunto
Set my Hand & Seal this Second Day of
the Second Month in the Year of our Lord, one thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty four
