Know all men by these presents that I Eliza W Cocke of the County
Isle of Wight, have manumitted, emancipated and set free, and by these presents
do manumit, emancipate and set free a negro man slave named Robert
sometimes called Robert Johnson, and I do hereby declare him the said negro
Robert to be intirely liberated from slavery and entitled to all the rights and
priviledges of a free person with which it is in my power to invest him.
He The said Robert hereby emancipated is a man of dark complexion
about five feet eight or nine inches high and is about thirty three years old.
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
4th day of January 1847.

In Isle of Wight County Court Feby 1st 1847. This deed was proved by the
oaths of CB Hayden and Ja's W Spratley the witnesses thereto and ordered to
be Recorded.
