I Thomas Uzell [Junr] of the County of Isle of Wight in Virginia being fully
pursuaded from the Conviction of my Own mind that freedom is the natural right
of all mankind and that it my duty to do unto others as I would desire to be done by in
the like Situation and having under my care Eight Negroes (to wit) [Keter], [inserted "aged"] Sixty years
Pegg aged thrity years or therabouts Jemima aged Twenty years Isham aged about
fourteen years Lewis aged about Six years, Rhoda aged about Three Years [Milla] aged
about One Years & Sarah aged about nine months whom I have heretofore held
as Slaves I do hereby Emancipate and Set free the above named Negroes , Yet I believe
it Right for me to reserve the prerogative of acting as Guardian over thse who are now in
Their Minority until they arrive at Lawfull age, and I do for myself my heirs
[Exors & Admors] relinquish all my Right to Inerest and Claim or pretention
of claim in me whatsoever either to their person or to any estate they may hereafter
acquire after they attain Lawfull age & their to enjoy their full freedom without
any Interruption from me or from any person Claiming by from or [inserted "under"] me In
Witness whereas I [have] hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 6th Day
of January 1794
