I John Outland Junr. of the County of Isle of Wight in Virginia having under
my Care, a negroe woman named Dorcas aged 39 Years and a negroe man named Dick
aged 25 years and being fully persuaded that freedom is the natural right of all man
kind of that it is my duty to do Others as I wou'd be done by, Do therefore hereby emancipate
and set the said Dorcas and Dick free and I do for myself my heirs Executors Administrat-
ors and Assigns Relinquish all my Right to the Interest & Claim or pretention of Claim
whatsoever either to their person or to any Estate they may acquire The abovesaid Negroes
Dorcas and Dick to enjoy their full freedom without any interruption from me or any
person claiming for by or under me In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my
Hand & Seal this 23rd Day of the Eighth month In the year of our Lord One
Thousand seven hundred & Ninety four

September 1794 This Emancipation was proved by the
Affirmation of Robert Jordan & William Eley jun the Witnesses thereto and ordered
to the Recorded Teste
