This Deed made this 28" day of April 1856, between Franklin Slaugh-
=ter of the first part, and William S. Barton, Peter Goolrick and Hay B. Hoomes,
Trustees, of the second part, Witnesseth, that the said Franklin Slaughter, doth
hereby grant unto the said Wm S. Barton, Peter Goolrick and Hay B. Hoomes, Trus-
=tees, a certain slave man named Washington Whitlow, a bright mulatto, aged
about thirty four years; Upon Trust, for the following purposes solely, to wit, That
upon the payment of Five dollars, being the balance of the purchase money of the
said slave, due to the said Franklin Slaughter, to the said Trustees or any one
of them, then the said Trustees, any one or more of whom may act, shall execute
to the said Washington Whitlow, a deed of manumission and release from Sla-
=very of the said Washington Whitlow ~

and Acknowledged the same to be his act and deed.
