This Indenture made this third day of May
in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine
Between William Glassell of the town of Fredericksburg of the one part, and
John Minor Junr. of hazle hill in the county of Spotsylvania Witnesseth
that the said William Glassell and in consideration of the sum of one
hundred pounds to him the said William Glassell in hand paid by the said John
Minor the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge Hath Bargained
and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said John
Minor and his executors and administrators forever my man slave known by
the name of Primus Gibbs To have and to hold the said slave Primus Gibbs
from the death of the said William Glassell or from the end of seven years to be
computed from the 20th day of this month which shall first happen, in Trust
nevertheless to and for the purpose of liberating and forever emancipating the
said slave Primus Gibbs from and after the end of the said seven years or the
death of the said William Glassell, which shall first happen, and the said John
Minor Junr. doth covenant for himself his heirs executors and administrators that he or
they at the expiration of the said seven years on the death of the said William Glassell
which shall first happen will faithfull and truly execute the said Trust by
liberatin and forever emancipating the said Slave primus Gibbs, and the said
William Glassell for himself his heirs executors and and administrators doth covenant
with the said John Minor that he and they will at any time hereafter make and
execute such further and other Deed or Deeds act or acts in law or Equity which
may be required by the said John Minor his executors or administrators for the better
assuring to the said primus full emancipation from the time of the death
of the said William Glassell or from tthe expiration of the said term of seven years which
either shall first happen In witness whereof the said parties have hereunto
affixed their hands and seals the day and year first above written

Memorandum. It is the true intent and meaning of the above Indenture and
this memorandum is to be construed and considered as a part of the same, that if the said
William Glassell shall move from the state of Virginia for that purpose of changing his residence
before either of the above events (Viz, the death of the said William Glassell or the expiration
of the said term of seven years) shall take place that then the right of the said John Minor
shall thereupon commence for the purpose of carrying into effect the trust above mentioned
it is however to be understood that if the above mentioned Primus Gibbs should desert the service
of the said William Glassell or in the mean time that the above Deed is to be void
signed Sealed & acknowledged
