Know all men by these presents and it is witnessed by this Indenture
that I Francis Brooke as attorney in fact for John Brooke do by these presents
emancipate and set free from slavery and all further Service a negroe slave called
Hester for and during the rest and remainder of her life. In Witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of May 1797

This letter of Emancipation from Francis T. Brooke
attorney in fact for John T. Brooke to his slave Hester was acknowledged by
the said Francis T. Brooke and Ordered to be Recorded
