Text of Freedom Document

To all whom it may concern, be it known that I Joseph
Christy of the Corporation of Fredericksburg and state of Virginia,
being persuaded that Liberty is the just and natural right of
Men

Men, so for myself, my heirs and assigns, set free and emancipate in
the manner following, a negroe man named Jack aged about thirty
two years, to be entitled to his Liberty from the date of these presents
by paying me the sum of Thirty Pounds in three equal annual
payments.--also a negro Woman named nanny aged about thirty
four years, to be free from the date hereof, with whatever progeny
she may hereafter have.--Likewise her son named George, aged
eight years, to be free and entitled to his Liberty when he shall arrive at the age of twenty seven years--All which slaves I do
for myself, my heirs, and assigns, or any person claiming by,
from, or under them, forever discharge & Liberate in the
manner above expressed.--As Witness my hand and seal
this 26th day of September seventeen hundred and ninety four--
