Know all men by these presents that I Wiliam E. Beckwith of the County of Fairfax and State of Virginia for divers good causes, me thereto moving, have manumitted and set free from slavery, and hereby manumit and set free from slavery my negro woman Mary Pinn (wife of Howson Pinn, Junior, a free man of color of Prince William County, Virginia) about twenty three years old, a bright mulatto, slender form, dark hair and dark eyes, no apparent marks or scars. And I do hereby give, grant, and release unto the said Mary Pinn all my right, title and claim of, in and to her person, labor and services, and, of, in and to all the estate and property which she may hereafter acquire or obtain.
Witness my hand and seal this 9th day of November 1858.

I, Daniel Kincheloe, a Justice of the Peace in the county aforesaid and State of Virginia, do certify that William E. Beckwith, whose name is signed to the writing above bearing date the 9th day of November 1858, has acknowledged the same before me in my county aforesaid.
