Be it known to all whom it may concern that I Thomas Fairfax of the County of Fairfax & State of Virginia, do by these presents relinquish all my right and title to the services of my slave Polly and her issue, and do hereby liberate the said Polly and her issue and make them free of slavery forever. As witness my hand & seal this 18th day of December 1812.

At a court held for Fairfax County the 21st Decem’r 1812. This deed of manumission from Tho’s Fairfax to negro Polly was proved by the oath of Henry Gunnell, and the said Polly appeared in open court, and the court having examined her is of opinion that she is health and sound & over the age of twenty one and under the age of forty five years which is ordered to be certified. And at a court held for Fairfax County the 15th day of Feb’y 1813 the same was further proved by the oath of John S. Love & ordered to be recorded.
