Know all men to whom these presents shall come that I Newman Brockenbrough of the Parish of Southfarnam and County of Essex Merchant for divers good causes and considerations me thereto moving but more especially for the fidelity and honest zeal manifested in the conduct and behaviour of my negro slaves Lewis and Beck his wife unto me I the said Newman Brockenbrough have manumitted and from all further service to me my heirs exors admors and assigns forever discharged the said Lewis and his wife Beck and by these presents do for me my Heirs exors and admors clearly & absolutely manumit discharge & set free the said Lewis and Beck. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of July Anno Domini seventeen hundred and ninety two.
