Know all men by these presents. that I. James Jackson of County of Southampton and
State of Virginia for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which
I bear to my old negro woman Patty whom I have emancipated and her two
children Peter and Arrenor, all three of the County of Southampton and State of
Virginia aforesaid as well as for the further consideration of one dollar to
me in hand paid by each the said Patty, Peter and Arrenor at or before
the ensealing and delivery of thesepresents. the receipt whereof is hereby
is hereby acknowledged have given and granted, and by these presents
do give and grant unto the said Peter Jackson and Arrenor Jackson
their Executors, administrators and assigns the entire tract or parcel of
land which I purchased of Joseph L. Smith there being three hundred
and eleven acres to be equally divided between them two. Also I give unto
the said Arrenor Jackson the following horses, the cream colt called
Saturday and the Gray Mule called Fanny, also all the hogs and all
the crop now growing on her part of the said plantation, also the
farming utencials that belongs on her part of said plantation. also I
give to the said Arrenor one negro man named Austin, I now
give unto the said Patty and Arrenor the tract of land I now live on
also the tract of land I purchased of John Blunt, also the tract of
land deeded to me by Lenow Williams, also the tract of land
I purchased of Jesse Worrell. I also give to the said Patty and
Arrenor fifteen hundred dollars in Bonds and accounts. I also give
unto the said Patty and Arrenor all the hogs and cattle on the said
plantations. also one Gray horse called whisentice, also all my
farming implements of every kind, household and kitchen furniture,
to be equally divided between them two, to them and their heirs forever. To
have and to hold the above describe property unto them the said
Peter Jackson, Arrenor Jackson and Patty their executors, administrators
and assigns forever, and the said James Jackson for himself, his
Executors and administrators, the said property as above described
unto them the said Peter Jackson, Arrenor Jackson and Patty,
their Executors, administrators and assigns against the claim of him
the said James Jackson, his executors and administrators and against the
claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and
will warrant, and forever defend them by these presents. In witness where-
of. I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my this 19th day of
October 1850-

This Deed of Gift from James Jackson to Patty, Arrenor Jackson and
Peter Jackson, was proved as to said James Jackson by the oaths of
John Whitehead and Edward Beaton two of the subscribing witnesses thereto,
and admitted to record.
