In the Name of God Amen I Ann Edmunds of Southampton County being of
sound & disposing mind & memory thanks be to god do make this my last will & Testament
in manner & form following
I give & bequeath to Mary Edmunds Dawson my bay riding mare & Riding Chair
Likewise one black bald face heifer, one Bead & Beadstead, One Rug, One pair of bead
blankets three Dozen flower,d earthen plates half Dozen flower,d earthen bowls to her
and her heirs forever -
Item I give & bequeath to Rebekah Turner my Bay Horse known by the name of Sterling
to her and her heirs forever. —
Item I give my Negro Man by the name of Juber his freedom —
Item My desire is that all my estate not hereafter nor heretofore given My stock of all
kinds whatsoever Cattle, Horses Hogs & Sheep likewise my Household & kitchen
furniture, Plantation utensils crop of all kinds whatsoever be sold & the Money arising
from such sale be equally divided between my three grand daughters Sally Simmons
Jane Edmunds & Mary Edmunds Dawson & my great grand child Ann Northington
Turner, if either of the before mentioned Mary Edmunds Dawson or Ann Northington
Turner dies without Lawful issue their proportion be equally divided between
Edmunds Turners Children, if Jane Edmunds dies without Lawful Issue her
proportion to be equally divided between Sally Simmons Children.
Item My desire is that after my Just debts & funeral expences is paid if any ready
Money for it be equally divided between the above mentioned Grand Children
& Great grand Child —
Item I do nominate and appoint Edmund Turner my hole & sole Executor to this my Last
Will & Testament, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this
Thirty first day of October One Thousand Seven hundred & Ninety four

At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 21st day of
August 1797 - This Will was presented in Court by Edmund Turner Executor
therein named and prov,d by by the oaths of Willie Francis, John Francis & Mary
Smith the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of the Ex,r
who made oath according to Law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat
thereof in due form giving Security whereupon &c
