I Samuel Jones of Southampton County Virginia having
under my care five negroes (to wit:) Tom aged forty eight, Fancy
thirty nine, Nann sixty, Sampson twenty two, & Siller twenty two
years whom I have heretofore held as slaves, but being fully pursuaded
=aded That freedom is the natural right of all mankind, & that it
is my duty to do unto others as I wou'd be done by, do Therefore hereby
Emancipate and set the said Negroes free, and I do for my
self my Heirs Executors and administrators, relinquish all my Right Title Interest & Claim or pretentions of claim
Whatsoever either to their persons any or to any estate they may
Hereafter acquire, and having also four who are now in
Their minority Vizt Emanuel born about the eighth month
1762: Cressy a Girl born the twelfth month 1766, James
a boy both the sixth Day of the eleventh month 1776 and Sampson a boy born in the eighth Month 1780, whom I
likewise emancipate & set free, yet I think it right for me to have the care & Direction of the males until they shall attain to the age of Twenty one years and of the feemale
until she shall attain to the age of eighteen years
and I do for my self my heirs executors & admor's
relinquish all my right Title Interest & Claim or pretention
of claim whatsoever either to their persons or to any
Estate They may acquire after they shall arrive to the full and Lawfull ages aforesaid; all the above said negroes
and their posterity to enjoy their full freedom without any
Interruption from me or any person claiming for by or
under me In Witness wereof I have hereunto set
