Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Bunbury of King George County in the State of Virginia for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars of lawful money of the said state to me in hand paid by a mulatto man slave named Dick, devised to me specially by my father John Bunbury deceased, in his last will and testament of record in the court of the County aforesaid, do fully, freely, and absolutely emancipate and discharge him, the said slave Dick from all and every obligation of servitude for which he now stands subject, and may be claimed by me under the laws of this state, and the devise aforesaid or either of them, and that he henceforth be and remain at liberty to enjoy and participate of all the rights, privileges and advantages appertaining by the laws of the state to free negroes and mulattoes entirely discharged from all and every claim or claims whatever of me the said Thomas Bunbury by my heirs or distributes forever. In witness whereof I the said Thomas Bunbury have hereunto subscribed my name, affixed my seal this sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five.
