John L Alexander to Truelove Dunlop- Deed of Emancipation
Know all men by these presents that this is to certify that Truelove, and acknowledged wife and consort to Joseph Dunlop, and born a slave in the Salisbury Estate, have for and in consideration of the sum of one shilling starling, and various other considerations, good conduct &c, purchased her freedom, and I do hereby pronounce her the said Truelove Dunlop to be entirely free from all slavery, bondage from this date below forever hereafter. As witness my hand and seal this first day of September one thousand eight hundred and one.

At a court held for King Geo. County the 3rd day of September 1801
This deed of emancipation from under the hand and seal of John L. Alexander to Truelove Dunlop was this day presented into court proved by the oaths of two of the witnesses thereto subscribed and ordered to be recorded.
