Know all men by these presents that I Moore Fauntleroy of the County of Westmoreland, Gentleman of my free will in consideration of the affection I bear towards two children of a certain slave named Barbary, otherwise more commonly called Bab, the property of a certain Richard Lee Esqr. of the County aforesaid, one of them being a girl named Fanny about four years of age, and the other a girl named Florinda about two years of age, which said children Fanny and Florinda were bargained and sold to me by the said Richard lee by his certain deed of bargain and sale bearing date the twenty eighth day of July in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, have manumitted, liberated, enfranchised and made free forever & by these presents do manumit, liberate, enfranchise & make free forever the two girls before mentioned Fanny & Florinda children of said woman slave Barbary to the intent and purpose that the said Fanny & Florinda & each of them may have use, claim, demand and enjoy all the rights, privileges, franchises and immunities of free citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia as fully, amply & completely & in the same manner as if the said Fanny and Florinda had been born free and not slaves. In witness whereof I the said Moore Fauntleroy have affixed my seal and subscribed my name to these presents this twenty ninth day of July in the year one thousand seven hundred & eighty five.
