In the Name of God Amen, I Everard Hall of the County of Prin-
cess Anne and State of Virginia, being at this time in a low state of
health, but of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and
ordain this instrument as and for my last Will and testament,
hereby revoking all other and former Wills and testaments here-
tofore made by me and declaring this and no other to be my last
Will and Testament. Imprimis, I give and bequeath to my old
friend Edmund McNair of the state of North Carolina, all my
Estate, real, personal & mixed, and also my manuscript book of
poems, in order to liquidate in part a large debt of longstanding
which I owe him - upon this only condition that the said Edmund
McNair shall emancipate and set free my old faithful slave Dan
-iel_ I give and bequeath to my wife Catharine, all the personal
property now in her possession. In witness whereof the said Ever-
-ard Hall hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this
24th day of March 1838.

This last Will and Testament of Everard Hall deceased, was pro-
-ved according to law by the oaths of J. J. Burroughs and Jno Cornick
two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded.
