Knows all men by these presents, That I Robert E Lowrey of the county of
Washington, and State of Virginia, Have and do hereby forever emancipate,
liberate, and set free, my negro man slave Frederick. The said Frederick
is about thirty five years of age, of dark colour, and rather above middle stature,
and is sometimes called Frederick Smith. Witness my hand and seal this
18th day of November 1856.

This Deed of Emancipation from Robert E Lowrey to his slave Frederick
sometimes called Frederick Smith, was acknowledged in the clerks office of
the county court of Washington, on this 2nd day of June 1857, before me Jacob
Lynch Clerk of the said court, by the said Lowrey, as his act and deed, and
admitted to record.
