For various reasons I do hereby Emancipate & forever set free, my slave
Jim, or James Miller a mulatto man about thirty years of age, about five
feet six inches high, bushy head, He has lost the half of the little finger
on the right hand, is a good house servant [illegible] & carriage driver, having
been raised to each. Witness my hand and seal this 10th Feby. 1831.
Test W.S. Trigg Francis Smith L.S.
At a Court continued and held for Washington County the 18th day of May. 1831
This Deed of Emancipation from Francis Smith to Jim or James alias James Miller was acknowledged in court by the said Smith as his act and deed and ordered to be recorded.
