Know all men by these presents that I James King of Washington
County and state of Virginia for & in consideration of the sum of two hundred
dollars to me in hand paid by my slave Dick Nolan the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged, and for his faithfulness and general good conduct while
serving me. I do hereby emancipate and forever set free, him the said
Dick Nolan. Given under my hand & seal this 26th day of July 1831.

At a Court continued and held for Washington County the 26th day of July 1831.
This Deed of Emancipation from James King to Dick Nolan
was acknowledged in court by the said King as his act and deed and ordered
to be recorded.
