Text of Freedom Document

Know all men by these presents that I Will Wortham of the
County of Washington and State of Virginia for and in consideration
of the natural love and affection which I bear to my daughter Hannah
of said county and state and for the further consideration of one dollar
to me in hand paid by the said Hannah the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and released and by these
presents do release set free and forever emancipate the said Hannah
from the bonds of slavery or of personal service to me or any one claiming
under me as a slave and I do hereby warant and defend the right of the
said Hannah to her freedom for the claim of myself or of any other person
claiming under me Witness my hand and seal this 15th day of August
1825

his daughter Hannah was proven in court by the oath of Peter Mayo[?]
