Be it Remembered that I have for various considerations
emancipated my negro slave woman Nancy and do by these
presents forever liberate and quit claim to said Nancy. She is
about fifty years of age, of small stature, neat & cleanly, has been principally
raised to housework and understands it well.
Witness my hand & seal this 20th April 1824 in Washington
County State of Virginia.
Alexr. Findlay (LS)
At a Court continued & held for Washington County the 21st
day of April 1824.
This Deed of Emancipation from Alexander Findlay
to Nancy was acknowledged in court by the said Findlay as
his act and deed and ordered to be recorded.
