To the world of mankind Greeting,
Know ye that I, Bazel Talbert Senr., of Washington County
and State of Virginia being actuated by benevolent disposition
and a promise made heretofore to Jenny, a negro woman formerly
my slave (but sett free by me the second day of August one
thousand eight hundred and three Do by these Presents
Sett free her Son Lorenzo Dow, which was born about
the above mentioned time; and I do hereby sett the said
Lorenzo Dow at full Liberty Clear of all slavery or bondage
whatever and Clear of all Claim or Claims by any person or
persons from this date untill the day and hour of this date
then recommending him to his makers’ mercies. In Witness
whereof I do hereby set my hand and Seal this twenty-fifth
day of July Eighteen hundred and five.

At a Court held for Washington County the 15th day of October 1805
This within instrument of writing was proven in Court by the
oath of William McHenry, a witness thereto. And at a Court
held for the said County the 22nd day of November 1805. It
was further proven by the oath of William Hinds a witness
thereto and ordered to be recorded.
