Text of Freedom Document

Know all men by these presents that I Daphne West of the County of Middlesex do hereby relinquish all right which I have to Benjamin Hord given to me by the last will and testament of James Ross dec’d in which will it is expressed that Master Healy & John Chew exor’s, or the survivor of them, shall annually hire the said Ben Hord out, and the proceeds of his hire, after paying all incident charges, pay two thirds to me & the other to said Ben. I do hereby release the said Exors, or either of them, or the survivor of them, from the discharge of that duty & do request them or either of them, or the survivor as soon as can be done, to execute a deed of emancipation to the said Ben in any manner allowable by law, so as to secure to him his freedom, in which deed (if required) I bind myself, my heirs, Exors, & admors under the penalty of five hundred dollars to join in at any time when required. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 6th day of July 1825.
