Be it known to all whom these presents shall come that I Benjamin West a free negro having purchased a negro woman named Priscilla since my freedom (from James Baytop Jun’r). And I the said Benjamin West being desirous to liberate and emancipate the said negro woman Priscilla, do hereby liberate and emancipate the said negro woman Priscilla from the date hereof (on condition the said woman Priscilla is allowed to live with me as a wife during my life and not to be molested or disturbed by any person in authority under the Act of Assembly in that case made and provided). As witness my hand and seal this twentieth day of Jany. Eighteen hundred and ten.

At a court held for Middlesex County at the courthouse in the Town of Urbanna on Tuesday the 27th day of February 1810. This certificate of emancipation from Benjamin West to Priscilla a negro woman was proved by the oath of Tho’s Healy Sen’r & George Healy two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
