By virtue of power vested in us by the will of the late Doctor George D. Spratt, we the subscribers, executors, and trustees under the said will do hereby emancipate, manumit and forever liberate Jacob, alias Jacob Murray, a young negro man of a light color he being one of the children of Beckey named in said will of Doct. George D. Spratt, and we do hereby declare the said Jacob forever free and emancipated. In witness whereof we have hereto set our hands and seals this 19th day of July Anno Domini 1808.

At a court held for Middlesex County at the courthouse in Urbanna on Monday the 25th day of July 1808. This deed of emancipation was in open court proved to be the act and deed of the executors and trustees aforesaid by the oaths of Carter B. Berkeley and Thomas M. Locke, two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
