Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Fauntleroy of the County of Middlesex, for & in consideration of the sum of seventy five pounds to me in hand paid by Benjamin Dabney, for & on behalf of my mulatto man slave named Tom formerly Boyd’s Tom, the receipt of which sum I do hereby acknowledge, have manumitted, set free & emancipated the said Tom, & by these presents do hereby manumit, set free & emancipate the said Tom. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my name & affixed my seal this 27th day of October one thousand eight hundred.

At a court held for Middlesex County at the courthouse in Urbanna, on Monday the 27th day of October 1800. This deed of emancipation with the receipt thereon endorsed to Tom, was acknowledged by the said Fauntleroy to be his act and deed, and ordered to be recorded.
