Know all men by these presents that I Julia Gibbons of the County of Gloucester (formerly of Yorktown in the County of York) for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Richard Randolph Exor of William Foushee M.D. dec’d late of Yorktown and pursuant to and under will of the said William Foushee M.D. have manumitted, emancipated, and set free a negro woman slave named Mary Archer and her child named Charlotte, and I hereby declare her the said Mary Archer and her child Charlotte aforesaid to be entirely free from slavery and entitled to all the right and privileges of a free person with which it is in my power to invest to them. She the said Mary Archer hereby emancipated is a woman of light complexion about the height of five feet [blank] inches, and is now about twenty six years of age, and her child aforesaid also hereby emancipated is of a very light complexion and now about five years of age. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this [blank] day of July 1836.

This deed of emancipation was acknowledged by Julia Gibbons party thereto and admitted to record according to law.
